Last call for legendary Upper East Side steakhouse Donohue's, closing after 76 years

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- It was the final last call on Friday night at a bar and steakhouse that opened in Manhattan back in 1950.

Donohue's on Lexington Ave is closing its doors after 76 years.

From the outside, the place may just blend in with the cityscape, but on the inside, it has been a rare gem, welcoming everyone for generations.

The owner, Maureen Donohue-Peters says it has changed many customers' lives.

"It's a lonely city - they come in, they don't know anyone - now they have a home," she says.

The place is not going away completely - there is a sister location called Donohue's East in Westhampton Beach.
